Family Day Out!

the other day we got to take the kids to the living planet aquarium for a day out of the house. we dont get to very often go places with daddy and for once he had a day off where we could actually go. we thought about going to the zoo but decided in the end that it was way to hot to go walk outside all day. so we decided on the aquarium. we all had a great time. colbys mom came with us so it was good to get out with everyone.

this was the first time any of us had been there. its about 30 minutes from our house and finding time in the past to drive there wasnt easy. after looking online at the website and showing Jaxon everything it had to offer he was more then ready to go. surprisingly it was very cheap. if you live close to sandy utah then check it out. it was only 9 dollars a person and 7 for Jaxon and Kacyn was free.

Jaxon loved looking at all the fishes, turtles, frogs, alligators, snakes, spiders, penguins and much much more. but when it came time for the sharks he was done. he would not get close to the tank. it was kinds cute actually but we ended up leaving and going to the next exhibit.

after we got done looking at everything we headed to the gift show to see what we could find. grandma bought jaxon a stuffed animal and a shirt and bought me a key chain. colby decided to buy a 3D shark picture (which i have no idea why but you cant talk him out of it). then we headed to the cafe they have there and bought something to eat. it was a fun day out as a family and we plan to go back soon. Jaxon had a great time and Kacyn loved being carried in the front pack all day.

here are some pictures of all our fun!

Kacyns 4 month update!

yes you herd me right. Kacyn is now 4 MONTHS OLD! seriously where does the time go? it seems as only yesterday i was peeing on stick (oops to gross)? well you'll get over it. Perhaps I should say it seems as only yesterday i found out i was going to have another little miracle come into my life. Kacyn has been a wonderful addition to our family. i cant picture life without him in it. my boys are my rock in life and if i didnt have them i dont know where i would be today.

Kacyn at four months can roll from tummy to back and from back to side, he can light up a room with his infectious smile, he has huge eyes that can melt any ones heart when he looks at you, he is now grabbing at toys and he loves to talk. some days i cant believe how much of a chatter box he is. he is very talented and can already scoot himself on the floor. i was very shocked to find him a foot off of his blanket when i walked back in the room from getting his bottle. he loves to stand up and you cant lay him down for very long or he cries. he loves to eat! he eats about 5-6oz of milk every 2 hours just about. i finally had to start adding cereal to his diet to keep him from eating longer. he sleeps quite well. during the day he will take multiple naps but for only about 15 min at a time unless you hold him. at night he goes to bed at 10 and will usually sleep till about 330 or 4 and then he wants to be up once every hour.

Kacyn is such a ball of fire compared to Jaxon at that age. Jaxon was happy to lay and play on the floor alone for hours on end, even now he is that way. but with Kacyn you have to constantly keep him entertained or else all hell breaks loose.

today he had his 4 month check up and everything was wonderful! he had multiple shots and he did great. he didnt full our cry he just whined a little and then was back to smiling. THATS MY BOY! his stats were as followed:

weight- 13 lbs 9 oz -14th percentile
height- 24 1/2 inches -22nd percentile
head- 15 1/2 inches -1st percentile

yes he has a small head but thats just fine. the doctor said he looked wonderful and he is growing like he should!

well thats it for Kacyns four month update. mommy loves you kacyn. you truly are a blessing in my heart!

fireworks and a photo shoot!

In my crazy attempt to get updated on my blogging (which will probably never happen so i apologize) im finally trying to slowing get back into it.

a few weeks ago my friend Charissa was nice enough to let me take some photos of her. after a year of having my DSLR camera and always shooting in auto in utter fear of setting my camera to the dreaded M for manual and risk not capturing that one moment which will never be captured again, i am pleased to announce that i have finally decided to turn the switch to M and actually learn to use it.
i must say that this was NOT an easy task. its not something you can learn overnight. it has taken me many months and researching online and through photography groups on cafemom.com to learn everything i have leaned. it is still very confusing to me but im finally starting to get the hang of it and im learning more and more every time i hold my camera.

thanks to Charissa i was finally able to break out my camera and use manual for the first time. it was very stressful and i wasnt sure how the pictures would turn out. but i must say for my first time using M the pictures turned out pretty well and im very pleased with the outcome of all the photos.

here are just a few!

the forth of july was also exciting. it was the first year i leaned how to take photos of fireworks with my camera. after a failed attempt last year i wasnt so confident about trying this year. after a weeks worth of reading everything i need to know about taking pictures of fireworks i was ready to try it. i was happy to finally get some great pictures. it was a blast (literally) to finally master firework photos!

here a very few from literally 100s of photos i took of july 4th and from clinton fireworks july 16th

Kacyn~two months old!

thats right KACYN GREGERY SPARROW is now two months old!

man oh man i cant believe he is two months already. i feel like i had him just yesterday. for those of you with children know what im talking about when i say dont blink because if you do you just might miss everything.
why do kids have to grow so fast? i just wish they would stay newborn size for like a year and then they can start growing.
he is now two months and is now into size 1 diapers. it was very sad to see him use his last newborn diaper. its like once they grown out of the NB diaper you know that they are not newborn anymore. suddenly you realize how much they truly have grown. it was sad going to the store to buy that size 1 diaper. i almost wanted to cry as sad as that sounds. his newborn clothes are starting to get tight also. its sad to break out the 0-3 clothes. before i know it he is going to be jaxons age. but wait that means jaxon would be 6. oh man i gotta stop thinking about that one.
his newest accomplishment is smiling. he started last week and it melts my heart every time i see it. he is such a happy boy and everything is better when he is happy. he is also rolling from his tummy to his back but thats nothing new he did that when he was 3 weeks old and now i cant even get him to do tummy time cause he rolls over the second i put him on the floor to play.
today kacyn had his two month check up with his wonderful pedi Dr. Evans. last week he developed a very bad ear infection so i was hesitant about him getting his shots today. but turned out the antibiotics had been helping and his ear infection was almost all cleared up so i decided to let him get his shots. he was so happy today which was a first for the last few days. i knew he was staring to feel better because he was no longer crying all day and night but actually smiling more and sleeping better. he was so cute laying on the table waiting for his shots. usually he doesnt like to lay down but today he was more then happy to. he was smiling at me and the nurses while they got his shots ready. and then they poked him and he screamed for all of 30 seconds till i picked him up. lets just say my little man is a trooper. here are his stats for this two month check up.

weight- 9 lbs 14 oz- 5 percentile
height- 21 1/2 inches- 10th percentile
head size- 38cm- 11th percentile

he is a small boy still at two months but the doctor said he his growing and gaining weight like he should.
im so happy that he is healthy and happy. my kids are the light in my eyes and i couldnt ask for a different life.

Kacyns birth story!

Its been so long and im sorry for not updating very often. lets go back two months and talk about the beautiful baby boy i had.

it was the night of March 11th, 2011 and i started getting very sick. i was up throwing up all night and was in alot of pain which i thought was just from throwing up so much its was just my stomach muscles hurting. the next morning on the 12th i was still way sick and didnt wanna get out of bed. i was worried i was in labor sense the beginning of that week the doctor said i could have him anytime sense i was dilated to a 3 1/2. but sense i wasnt having contractions i figured i just got the flu. i was coughing all the time and throwing up everything i ate or drank.
as the day went on i was still feeling like crap and my stomach was hurting so bad i was in tears. i called my mom crying saying i didnt know what was going on and asked her if she thought i should go into the hospital or just wait it out. she told me to just wait that it was probably the flu.
later that night my aunt came over to watch me to see if i got worse or try to time my pain. well we couldnt time my pain. i was hurting constantly and my stomach would not get hard like a contraction so i laid on the couch while she sat with me. My brother and his wife were kind enough to take jaxon just in case i needed to go into the hospital.
colby then got off work at like 11:30 that night. of course he had to work late on the day i thought i was in labor. once he got home i had him take me to the hospital. not because i thought i was in labor but because i was so dehydrated that i needed to get fluids in me. i knew i was dehydrated cause i couldnt keep water down and my urine was bright orange. (ok TMI...sorry)
so we got there around midnight and got checked in and they wheeled me up to labor and delivery. i go into my gown and all set up in the bed with the monitors on. the nurse soon came in to start my iv and get fluids in me. about half an hour after my doctor came in and checked me and said i was dilated to a four and that my contractions were three minutes apart. turned out all the stomach cramps i was having were contractions but it was weird sense my belly wasnt getting hard. so he just decided to keep me there and break my water! water was broken around 12:30am! let the fun begin!
around 1:30am the nurse came in to check my progress and i was dilated to a six. i was starting to feel more pain but nothing super bad but i decided to get an epidural before the real pain started. after i got the epi the nurse came back around 2:30 and i was dilated to an 8 and minus 1 station.
around 4:20am (this was on daylight savings day so it would have been 3:20) she came and checked me and i was at a 10 and plus 3 station. wow talk about fast. even she and the doctor couldnt believe how fast i went. they got everything set up and ready and i started pushing around 4:30. well i pushed for 10 seconds. breath. pushed 10 seconds. breath. and finally pushed for 7 seconds and the doc told me to stop pushing. the doc just let kacyn slide into the world on his own. he said "im going to prove to you that you dont have to push alot to have a baby" and he was right.

Kacyn Gregery Sparrow came sliding into this world at 4:34am on March 13th, 2011 weighing 6 lbs even and measuring 18 inches long! he was 36 weeks 2 days along!

he was not crying and they were having a hard time getting him to cry. i was worried for my baby. they had to suck out alot of fluid from his lungs and they had to put the mask on to give him air so he wouldnt stop breathing. he finally let out one little cry and that was it. they brought my beautiful baby boy to me and i got to give him a kiss and then they took him away so he could get on oxygen sense he wasnt breathing well. i got moved to the pp wing of the hospital without my baby. three hours later i finally got to see him. he was beautiful. i didnt even sleep cause i just wanted to spend all the time with him.
we had alot of visitors that day and everyone could not get over how beautiful he was. jaxon was so cute when he came to see kacyn.
the next day in the hospital kacyns pedi came into talk to me. he tells me had developed jaundice to a critical level and that he would be under the lights all day and that i would only see him every three hours to feed him and then they would take him away again. that day was horrible. colby had to work all day and i was alone. i cried not being able to have kacyn in my room with me.
the next morning was the day i got released. kacyns jaundice was controlled enough that he was coming home with me. i was so happy to hear that he got to come home. i dont think i could have left him there alone.
we are so happy that he is here and is happy and healthy. all those months of me going in and out of the hospital for 4 kidney stones, a blocked kidney and dehydration 3 times were well worth it. he is one of the lights of my life. we enjoy every minute with him and Jaxon. our life couldnt get any better!

new living room!

after being married for almost 4 years, colby and I decided it was finally time to use some of our tax returns to buy some very much needed new couches.

after many debates with colby over new couches or a new "man" tv as colby would call it, i of course won the battle. so after looking around at couches (which i must say is not super exciting) we finally found the deal that both of us won with!

The amazing RC Willey deal! for $999 you get a sofa, loveseat, storage ottoman, and a 40 inch flat screen tv.
we went into look at it and i fell in love with the super soft and super cute brown couch and colby of course loved the tv. so what did we do? we dropped 1000 dollars right there and got ourselves a new living room set!

after paying we were told that i would be about a week to get the couches ordered and delivered. so what did i do? i sold our old tv entertainment center sense it would not fit our new tv and i also gave our old couch to an old co worker of mine the day before the new couches were supposed to be here.
well next day i called rc willey and asked if they were in and they of course told me no and it would be another week. so after a week of nothing to sit on we finally got the
couches and tv delivered!

i have loved having a new living room! its amazing how new stuff can make one so happy!
